Surface treatment not only can change production's appearance like color but can also improve surface quality like hardness. All these make surface treatment  an important technology in industry product. The traditional surface treatment technique includes plating, electroplating and etc., which have disadvantages such as poor adhesive and pollution in production. The new technique--ion plating overcomes the shortcomings of old techniques. It can make high quality coatings such as TiN, TiNC, TiC, ZrN, TiAlN, CrN and many others in pollution-free process. These coatings have both good decorative and mechanical features that are applied in both industry-used and daily-used products.

Ion plating is an advanced vacuum coating technology which includes arc deposition, hollow cathode deposition, e-beam deposition and some other techniques. The arc deposition technique applied by Sinoarc is a method of highest commercial value. The coating process of arc evaporation is that the coating material (such as pure titanium block) is evaporated by electric arc and turned into plasma in vacuum chamber, then the plasma is accelerated by electric field and reacts with inlet reactive gas (such as nitrogen), later the compound ( TiN for instance) deposits on the workpieces and makes a thin film.  Changing coating material or reactive gas, different films can be made to meet customer's requirement of a particular color. For example, TiN is  golden, TiC is gun black, ZrN is brass and TiCN is a rose gold color.

Compared with other vacuum coating method, arc evaporation has a very high ionization rate which results in high coating quality. It is also a very versatile method which can make many kinds of films and easy to adjust coating data in process. The arc evaporator can be placed in either horizontal or vertical way, so large coating systems can be easily made by adding more evaporators. As coating work cycle is short and coating system can be very large, arc evaporation technique is the most efficient vacuum coating method that becomes the first choice of industry production.

The key technology in manufactory of arc coating system lies in vacuum, electric power(especially bias power) and electric control, evaporator and coating art. Fields of application:

Arc deposition is applied in two main fields: tool coating and decorative coating, for increase tool life and surface decoration respectively.

Tool coating: Cutting tools made of high speed steel or carbide alloy will have a better cutting performance and longer life after coating. Mould's life can also be prolonged after coating.

Decorative coating:

  • Architecture: bathroom hardware(faucet),lock, door handles, furniture
